Is FirstDraftCV really free?
Yes. There is no paid tier, no trial, and no account. The AI features call an AI server configured by whoever hosts the app; everything else runs entirely in your browser.
Where is my resume data stored?
In your browser only (localStorage and IndexedDB on your device). Nothing is uploaded, and there is no server-side copy. Export a JSON backup if you switch machines or browsers.
Will my resume pass ATS screening?
Templates marked ATS-safe use a single reading order, real headings, and no layout tables. The built-in ATS score also checks your content against the specific job description - keywords, sections, dates, and formatting.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Install it as an app and you can edit, switch templates, and export PDFs with no connection. Only the AI features need to be online.
What export formats are supported?
PDF (print-accurate), DOCX (ATS-safe mode or styled mode, opens in Word and Google Docs), plain text, and JSON for backup and re-import.
Do I need my own AI key?
Not when the hosted AI server is running - the app detects it automatically. Without it, every non-AI feature still works: editing, templates, ATS scoring, and all exports.
Where do the job postings on the Market page come from?
From public company career APIs, refreshed weekly. Each posting is analyzed for level, salary, and skills, so the app can show how well your resume matches before you click - and attach any posting as your tailoring target in one click.
Will the LinkedIn posts sound like AI wrote them?
That is exactly what the anti-slop gate prevents: drafts are grounded in your real resume and your own notes, and any draft without a real number or named tool - or containing known AI-tell phrases - is rejected and rewritten. You always review and post it yourself.
